Glosario jurídico

A document that contains details of how a company is organized, for example, the duties of management, rights of shareholders, and when meetings will be held. It is one of the documents needed to create a new company in the UK and some other countries:

E.g: The shareholders need only propose an amendment to their companies' articles of association, and then vote for it.

Legal documents recording the fact that a company has been made into a legal corporation (= a large company or group of companies controlled together as a single organization) and describing the conditions that control this:

E.g. The company's articles of incorporation clearly describe its non-profit status.When a company incorporates, the articles of incorporation state how many shares can be issued..

in the UK and some other countries, a document needed to officially form a new company, which gives details of its name, activities, managers, share capital, etc.:

E.g. The company's memorandum of association sets out the bounds within which the company must operate.

E.g. His eyes are his best asset (= most attractive feature).

Also: something that is owned by a person, company, or organization, such as money, property, or land:

have/hold/own assets 

E.g. You can hold assets offshore, such as bank accounts or property.

acquire/buy/increase assets 

E.g. The parties will decide whether to buy assets or shares.

dispose of/reduce/sell assets 

E.g. The company's board could dispose of assets once they decide to sell the company.

freeze/release/unfreeze assets 

E.g. The courts can order a financial institution to freeze assets.

record/show sth as an asset 

E.g. This figure will need to be shown in the accounts as an asset.

The sale/disposal/transfer of assets

One of the equal parts that the ownership of a company is divided into, and that can be bought by members of the public:

E.g. The value of my shares has risen/fallen by eight percent.

E.g. We have some shares in Apple.He invests in stocks and shares.share prices.

The amount of money that a company has through selling shares to people:

E.g. They own 20 percent of the company's stock. 

Also, part of the ownership of a company that can be bought by members of the public:
